Hyundai Accent Relays
Relays to suit the Hyundai Accent, cross-referenced against OEM specification and dispatched countrywide

What Are Hyundai Accent Relays?
A relay lets a small signal from the ECU or ignition switch a much larger current — fuel pump, cooling fan, starter, headlamps. The Hyundai-specific catch is that the relay list is not the same across a model: the CRDi diesels carry a glow-plug relay that no Kappa or Gamma petrol car has, and air-conditioned derivatives add relays that the base cars simply do not fit. That is why a relay layout for a 1.4 petrol i20 tells you very little about a 1.6 CRDi. Work off the diagram on the underside of your own fuse-box lid, and send us the engine code with the enquiry.
Signs You Need New Relays
Accent generations and relays — the short version
On the Accent, X3, LC, MC and RB are all in circulation locally, and they do not share one parts list. The Accent ran for so long in South Africa that the same name covers four distinct platforms — the change from the Alpha to the Gamma petrol family is the single biggest fitment dividing line.
Engine families fitted to the SA-market Accent:
Coded and paired components — immobiliser-linked and body-control items in particular — will not simply plug in on a Hyundai. Some need matching to the car before they will function.
Send us the VIN, and the fault code if the car has been scanned with your enquiry and we will confirm the correct relays against your car before anything is dispatched.
In South Africa the Accent is mostly one of the deepest used-parts pools of any Hyundai in the country, which is exactly why sourcing to the correct generation matters more here than on a newer car. That is the wear pattern we stock and source against.
Hyundai Accent Relays — Questions We Get Asked
Will relays from another Accent fit mine?
Not automatically. The Accent sold in South Africa as X3, LC, MC and RB, and the Accent ran for so long in South Africa that the same name covers four distinct platforms — the change from the Alpha to the Gamma petrol family is the single biggest fitment dividing line. Send us the generation code off your VIN plate and we will confirm it either way before anything is dispatched.
Which engines did the South African Accent come with?
SA-market cars ran Alpha 1.5/1.6 (X3, LC), Alpha II 1.6 (MC), Gamma 1.6 (RB), U-line 1.5/1.6 CRDi on selected RB-era derivatives. The code stamped on the block is what we work from — the badge on the boot is not reliable on its own.
Does my Hyundai have a glow plug relay?
Only if it is a CRDi diesel. That is the single biggest difference between the relay layout on a diesel and a petrol Hyundai — the Kappa and Gamma petrol cars have no glow plugs and therefore no glow plug relay at all. If a diesel is hard to start cold, that relay is the first place to look.
What does a failing relay do on a Hyundai?
The pattern we see most is a no-start with the fuel pump silent, a loud click from the fuse box, cooling fans stuck permanently on or off, or an electrical fault that comes and goes with no obvious trigger. Intermittent is the word that most often means relay.
What does a Hyundai relay cost to replace?
Get a free quote through our form for exact pricing on your model. Most common Hyundai relays are inexpensive parts; the bigger variable is diagnosis time to work out which one has failed, since several sit in the same engine bay fuse box and look identical.
The starter relay clicks but the car will not crank. Is the relay dead?
Not necessarily, and this is worth checking before you buy anything. A click without crank means the relay is energising but not passing enough current to the starter solenoid — and a tired battery mimics that exactly. We check battery voltage under load and the earth straps before condemning the relay.
How do I find and test a relay on my Hyundai?
Work off the diagram on the underside of your own fuse-box lid rather than a diagram from the internet, because air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned derivatives fit different relays and facelift cars occasionally moved a slot. To test, swap it with an identical relay of the same rating from a non-critical circuit such as the horn and see whether the fault follows.
