The Elantra sold in South Africa as J2 Avante, XD, HD, MD and AD, and early SA cars wear the Avante name and later ones the Elantra badge for what is effectively the same lineage — the generation code, not the badge, is what a parts desk works from. Water is shorting a wire to earth somewhere in a wet section of loom. Common spots: under the battery tray, the bulkhead connector behind the airbox and the boot loom rubber on hatchbacks. Trace the circuit the fuse protects, then inspect that loom for dampness.
