The i20 sold in South Africa as PB, then GB, then the current BC3, and the PB and GB are different cars underneath despite the shared badge, so a part listed simply as "i20" is not automatically the right one — the generation code decides it. A chafed ABS wheel speed sensor loom is the most common cause we see — the wheel moves the wire, insulation wears through and the signal shorts. Intermittent because it only grounds when the loom flexes the right way. Inspect where the loom crosses the suspension arm.

Yes and it should always be the first approach. A good auto-electrician solders, heatshrinks and re-sleeves damaged sections for a fraction of full-harness cost. Full replacement is only justified after fire damage or flooding that corrodes the entire loom.

Water is shorting a wire to earth somewhere in a wet section of loom. Common spots: under the battery tray, the bulkhead connector behind the airbox and the boot loom rubber on hatchbacks. Trace the circuit the fuse protects, then inspect that loom for dampness.
