The Terracan sold in South Africa as a single body-on-frame generation, and because it has a separate chassis rather than a monocoque, suspension, steering and body-mount parts do not cross over from the Tucson or Santa Fe at all. That pattern points hard at the crankshaft position sensor. The ECU loses its timing reference, so injectors and coils stop firing; the car often restarts once it has cooled and then does the same thing again. It is one of the few faults that more or less names itself.

Short-term the ECU falls back on the crankshaft sensor, so you get reduced power and possibly limp mode. Longer term the misfires start damaging the catalytic converter, which turns a cheap part into an expensive one. Get it scanned and replaced within a week rather than living with it.
