Hyundai Terracan Taillights
Taillights for the Hyundai Terracan — new, used and aftermarket stock, quoted once we know which Terracan you are running

What Are Hyundai Terracan Taillights?
Taillights are the rear cluster housings containing brake, running, indicator and reverse lamps, with LED units on newer Hyundais and bulb-based units on older models. On i20, Accent, Tucson and Creta models we see moisture ingress, corroded bulb sockets and full LED cluster failures where only replacement works.

Terracan Taillights: what actually decides fitment
What changes across the range
Terracan owners are usually surprised by how much turns on the generation code — a single body-on-frame generation all sold here.
Because it has a separate chassis rather than a monocoque, suspension, steering and body-mount parts do not cross over from the Tucson or Santa Fe at all.
Worth knowing: the Terracanno Kia equivalent — a separate-chassis 4x4 unrelated to the monocoque SUVs in the range.
What we check on taillights
- •The generation code, because Terracan parts lists split on it
- •The engine family — this Terracan was sold with Sigma 3.5 V6 and J3 2.9 CRDi
- •The side, the generation, and a photo of the existing unit if you have one
- •Whether the car is pre- or post-facelift within its generation
In South Africa the Terracan is mostly kept alive by an off-road and overlanding following, so demand centres on diesel engine, driveline and 4x4 hardware rather than everyday service items. That is the wear pattern we stock and source against.
Hyundai Terracan Taillights FAQs
Will taillights from another Terracan fit mine?
Not automatically. The Terracan sold in South Africa as a single body-on-frame generation, and because it has a separate chassis rather than a monocoque, suspension, steering and body-mount parts do not cross over from the Tucson or Santa Fe at all. Send us the generation code off your VIN plate and we will confirm it either way before anything is dispatched.
What should I send you when asking about Terracan taillights?
The VIN is the single most useful thing — a photo of the plate is fine. Failing that, the generation code and the engine code off the block. The Terracan ran as a single body-on-frame generation, so the generation is what narrows the search.
Which taillight does my Hyundai take?
Facelift is the question that matters, not left-hand drive versus right-hand drive — taillights are unaffected by which side the steering wheel is on, but part numbers change at a facelift within a single generation, and LED clusters differ from bulb ones again. The VIN settles it in one step.
What does a replacement Hyundai taillight cost?
Used clusters from SA strippers are a fraction of new OEM pricing — sometimes a tenth of it. Request a free quote with your model, year and body style, and tell us which side. Body style matters more than people expect: a hatch and a sedan of the same model do not share rear clusters.
There is water inside my taillight. What now?
Either the lens-to-body gasket has perished or a vent tube is blocked. Light misting that clears in sunshine is normal; standing water in the bottom of the lens is not. Deal with it rather than living with it — sitting water corrodes the sockets and the circuit board, which turns a gasket into a whole cluster.
Can an LED taillight be repaired?
Mostly no. Hyundai LED clusters are sealed units with LEDs that are not individually replaceable, so dead pixels usually mean a full cluster. A handful of specialists rebuild LED boards on newer cars, but by the time you have paid the labour you are often at the price of a good used cluster anyway.
Tail lights are dead but the brake lights work. Why?
Those are separate circuits, which is what the symptom is telling you. It is nearly always a poor earth or a corroded socket on the running-light pin, or a blown fuse on that circuit alone. We check the earth point behind the trim panel first — a dirty earth is the most common rear-lighting fault we see on these cars.
