- The affordable tier — fitted to the small Kappa/Gamma petrols
- Plentiful in SA yards; check 2nd-gear crunch and input-shaft whine
- Petrol and diesel variants — quote your engine to match the bellhousing
6-Speed Manual

- Fitted to most CRDi diesel and larger petrol cars — confirm bellhousing match
- Check the clutch and dual-mass flywheel condition on the donor

On automatics, the older 4-speed (A4CF) is generally durable but a reconditioned unit is the safer buy if it has been shifting harshly. The in-house 6-speed autos in the newer Tucson, ix35, i30 and Santa Fe are stronger but scarcer and priced higher.
